October 24, 2017 – Lviv, Ukraine – Ukraine was named the “Offshoring Destination of the Year” at the 2017 Global Sourcing Association (GSA) awards ceremony which took place in London, October, 19th. N-iX nominated Ukraine as a candidate in this category as a country with a reputation of one of the leading IT outsourcing destinations in Europe.

Ukrainian IT industry now amounts to $2.5 billion, which constitutes 3% of the country’s GDP. By 2020, it is expected to reach $10 billion with 5.7% contribution to GDP. Ukraine has consistently featured in Gartner’s top 30 offshoring and outsourcing destinations for the past six years and is ranked as number one for outsourcing markets in Eastern Europe, by Outsourcing Journal. The export-oriented segment of Ukraine’s IT services market grew two and a half times over the past five years (according to PwC research).
Ukraine takes the 1st place in Europe and 4th place in the world by the number of IT professionals (230,000 according to the government). Also, Ukraine holds the 3rd place for the number of certified IT specialists worldwide.
An importance of promoting IT in Ukraine and Ukrainian IT in the world was one of the issues raised by the leaders of the prime IT companies in Ukraine at IT Arena 2017, one of the biggest tech conferences in Eastern Europe, took place in Lviv during September 29 – October 1. They outlined that the leading IT companies in the country need to unite their effort and shape a powerful and appealing brand of Ukraine, giving it a unified voice and presenting the country at global tech and business events.
For 14 years in a row, GSA UK Awards recognizes companies that demonstrated best-practice in outsourcing. This year N-iX has shortlisted for the GSA UK Awards in five categories:
- International Outsourcing Contract of the Year;
- Offshoring Destination of the Year;
- Telecommunications Outsourcing Project of the Year;
- ITO Project of the Year;
- Digital Transformation Project of the Year.
